Lindsay, Lindsay

Only used twice this time so must mean she is getting better! I called this morning and Lindsay has been sleeping very well and the continuous feeds are allowing her to get her much needed rest since she is a little under the weather. Her potassium this morning was 3.0 which is a little better but still not good enough especially since she is getting those higher doses every 3 hours! Hopefully we can get the doctors this morning after rounds and ask some more questions and what the next plan of attack is. Her nurse said that she went to take her blood pressure this morning, Lindsay rolled over and looked at her, smiled, and then went right back to sleep. Princess indeed! Hopefully she is more like herself today and then by the time we get back to Ann Arbor on Christmas day, she is her playful self. Man, I can't wait to see her!
Have a great day everyone! And, even if it is not Lindsay's blood drive, please, go give blood. It can save lives!
Love and heart blessings!

My heart goes out to you and I've been thinking of you lots...I know this has to be so hard being away from the princess for a few days, like a piece of you is missing without her along with the boys. I'm sure you'll feel more energized after the blood drive today by seeing all of those that love and care for Lindsay and your family. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and keeping Lindsay in our prayers...much love and hugs to you all! Take care!!!
Love,
Katie

We are so happy that she is doing better. We are praying for her every day. I am sure it is hard, but we are happy that you have been able to go home for a while... it is good for your family as a whole to have some degree of a "normal" Christmas in the middle of this. I'm sure if Lindsay could talk she would tell you the same... she wouldn't want take away from Christmas, she want's to be the most precious gift of Christmas!

We are so bummed we missed you guys last weekend. I was just to worried someone might catch my cold... and if it could lay me out for two days, I don't want to think of what it could to to any of the precious heart babies. I mean, I'm sure Princess Lindsay is tough enough... she has fought off so many bugs she would probably laugh at my cold... but no reason to bring my cold into town anyway.

We love you guys... have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We will catch up with you soon.

Ok, I'm back. I sent you this in an email but it came back...so here's the email I sent...
Suzie,
You are definitely on my heart these days...I often wonder why we've had an
"easy" way with our Maddie, knowing all that can happen with these heart
kids. Yes, our girls have different defects so we can't
compare. But I do realize that in a heartbeat, literally, it all can change
so I'm truly grateful for every minute. You are so incredibly strong and
making the most of this "not ideal" situation. Lindsay is such a beautiful,
courageous little girl who's touched so many hearts and lives. She's dear to
our hearts and I pray daily for her new heart, as if she's my own. Please
know that I'll be thinking of you steady this Christmas and I pray that you
can feel the love that we have for you and your family. I'm proud of you and
look up to you, Suzie.

I read this poem this morning, from Lauren's carepages (HRHS, 21 year
old)....thought you'd love this too and may it give you some peace, my
friend. Lindsay's miracle is coming...keep the faith!!!! And, she's so lucky
to have you as her mama. Take care and Merry Christmas!

The Miracle
Author unknown

A little girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its
hiding place in the closet.

She poured the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three
times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for
mistakes.

Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she
slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store
with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door.

She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention, but he
was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise.
Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could
muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on
the glass counter. That did it!

"And what do you want?' the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice.
I'm talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven't seen in ages," he said
without waiting for a reply to his question.

"Well, I want to talk to you about my brother," Tess answered back in the
same annoyed tone. "He's really, really sick..and I want to buy a miracle."

"I beg your pardon?" said the pharmacist.

"His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my
Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle
cost?"

"We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you,"
the pharmacist said, softening a little.

"Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the
rest. Just tell me how much it costs."

The pharmacist's brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked
the little girl, "What kind of a miracle does your brother need?"

"I don't know,' Tess replied with her eyes welling up. I just know he's
really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can't pay for
it, so I want to use my money."

"How much do you have?" asked the man from Chicago.

"One dollar and eleven cents," Tess answered barely audibly.

"And it's all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to."

"Well, what a coincidence," smiled the man. "A dollar and eleven cents---the
exact price of a miracle for little brothers."

He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten
and said "Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet
your parents. Let's see if I have the miracle you need."

That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in
neuro-surgery. The operation was completed free of charge and it wasn't long
until Andrew was home again and doing well.

Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them
to this place.

"That surgery," her Mom whispered. "was a real miracle. I wonder how much it
would have cost?"

Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost...one dollar and
eleven cents....plus the faith of a little child.

In our lives, we never know how many miracles we will need.

A miracle is not the suspension of natural law, but the operation of a
higher law.

Miracles do happen!!!
