Our First U of M visit

Well, all went well at the first visit to "the BIG boys" . We were told by the pediatric cardiologist that considering the severity of her problem, Lindsay is in the best possible position for a standard procedure. That news lifted a little weight from our shoulders. We were able to meet the OB/GYN that I will be under and also see the room that I will be delivering in and where Lindsay will be taken after birth. Our next appointment is scheduled for May 9th and we will meet with the same people we just did along with the surgeon. Trust me, I have a list of questions for him/her!
Just wanted to tell everyone "thank you" for all of the thoughts and prayers thus far. We are very fortunate to have such good friends and wonderful family that we can lean on.
I will post any new developments.
Love, Suzie

Hi Suzie,

I am so glad to read your U of M visit went so well...I thought about you all day. I was going to call and then thought, "do not be one of those 100 phone calls, Elaine...check the Blog!!" I also saw your post on Annabelle's Blog...I think being pen pals would be great for them someday!

You are always in our prayers,

Love, Elaine

Hi Suzie,

I found your blog from Annabelle's blog. I have a 7 month old son with HLHS, he's already had his first 2 surgeries and is doing great! I will keep your family in our prayers as you prepare for the birth and surgery of your little Lindsay. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

I live in North Carolina and our son was treated at UNC, but we have a family from our church who has a 5 year old son with HLHS and they chose U of M as their top choice in all the country so that should make you feel good! Their son has had all 3 surgeries and seems to be doing really well too.

Heart Hugs,

Julie, Dan & Ethan Miles

Hi Suzie,

Well obviously, I am checking the blog DAILY!! How incredibly sweet it is of Julie Miles to write and offer to answer questions! What a priceless resourse for you. It is amazing to me how people who we have never met reach out to us. You are going to have a whole new circle of friends by the time Lindsay arrives...to go with us old-timers!

As someone who loves Suzie and her family, I would like to say "THANK YOU JULIE!!!"

Love, Elaine

Hi Suzie,

I just read your comment on my blog. I would love to talk with you as much as you need. I know how great it is to have others going through the same thing so that you don't feel alone. My email is: milesj02@gmail.com. Email me and I can send you some cool HLHS links I've come across in the past 12 months since first learning of this heart defect (although I'm sure you've already done lots of research and found many of them yourself!)

Heart Hugs,

Julie Miles

P.S. I found that lots of heart families use this salutation when talking with each other, so welcome to the club!

Hey Suzie~

I am so glad that you've enjoyed Annabelle's blog and found encouragment through it! I am SO sorry it's taken me so long to post...life is very busy but so much fun!!! These girls are such blessings! I am so glad that you have found U of M to be your hospital. I have heard excellant things about that hospital! I think Annabelle's surgeon did some work there when he was in school.
I would love for to help in anyway and I am sure that just talking about everything will help us both. Please email me at rsbutcher@bellsouth.net. You will find that there is a very close knit community of HLHS babies and families. God has chosen you and your family for Lindsay. You will be so blessed by her (as I am sure you are already).
I look forward to getting to know you and sharing in Lindsay's journey! She is in our prayers daily.
Blessings~ Rebecca

Hi Suzie! I'm Kerri Pennington, also a mother of a HLHS baby girl and a 4-year-old healthy heart "big girl" (I found you by Annabelle's blog) Mary Clare is almost 9 months old and has had her Norwood and Glenn and is doing wonderfully! I know how hard it is for you right now, but just know that there are so many other moms that can help! Please feel free to email me anytime! To vent, chat, etc. It helps to know that you aren't alone. My girls have a website: www.babypennington, which goes through our entire journey with HLHS. (March 29, 07 begins the HLHS journey) Take care, I'll be keeping up!

Hi Suzie!

Thanks for commenting. I'm so glad you've been able to follow Julianne's story. She's had some rough times but I'm not exaggerating when I say she is an incredibly happy baby! Its really amazing. Had I gone through all of that, I don't think I'd be so happy. :)

Before Julianne was born I was in touch with another family with a 2 year old with HLHS. It was such an encouragement for me (and still is).

Please feel free to email me anytime: jessicacaperton@yahoo.com
As you've seen from the blog, our life is an open book. I'm more than happy to share anything you may be interested to know.

I've heard U of M is excellent! We'll keep you and your baby girl and family in our prayers. :)

Talk to you soon,
Jessica
