Late night visit

As I mentioned before, I couldn't sleep last night, so at midnight, I went over to see Lindsay. I just can't begin to tell you how great she looks! When I was there, they had weaned the vent down to the rate of 22 and she is on 50% oxygen. I called this morning and during rounds, the consensus was that they were going to leave her there for most of the day to make sure that her pressures are doing fine and worry about the major "weening" tomorrow. Fine with me!! However, the princess is officially restrained! Yes, folks, she is trying to roll right out of her bed! So, they now have hand restraints attached so the nurses can feel a little more comfortable with leaving the bedside at least for a second without having to worry that, sedated and all, Lindsay won't either fall off the bed or pull out her breathing tube!!! YIKES!
I just wanted to thank everyone for their very special comments that you have been leaving for us. I have noticed a small trend lately that is just starting to actually sink into my head that it is soon a reality.................getting out of here and taking her home!!! WOW! By the end of the month, WE ARE GOING HOME!!!!!! sniff sniff
Heart Blessings!
Suzie

Home sweet home! Thank you for reminding me that it's such a special place to be! Sometimes I feel like a prisoner to the clutter and chaos that is our home...

And that is TOO funny about the restraints, but doesn't it just speak to your little girl's strength and vitality??? I hope that within the next couple of days they'll be able to take those off and put her in a REAL crib... on the floor! When they do, please ask them to send the restraints down to me, as I have good use for them here.

Lots of love,

Michelle

It is GREAT that she is doing so well. We know how the "can't sleep" can be:) It is so wonderful that Lindsay finally received her gift of new life! No you will be entering a whole new world! Taking Brittney home was one of the most scariest times of my life. I was so nervous. But, when we got him, nothing happened. I realized that we could do it and Brittney was a normal kid still. Now she is back to school and doing her sports. She is back to "normal". The only reminder is her 23 pills she takes a day. It will be so great when you can take Lindsay home and return to a "normal" routine away from Mott! I can't wait to read about her firsts outside of Mott.
We love you guys and hope to stay in contact! Stay strong and believe!

I am so happy for you. I remember thinking I would never take my baby home. And that day was such a high that I'll never forget that. And our stay wasn't even close to yours. 117 days to be exact.

I've been following your blog and wishing the best for your family. It is bringing back memories of 4 months ago when my husband had his heart transplant. He has(had) and CHD also. You know, they don't have the defect anymore!!! It still hits us regularly that there is someone else's heart beating strongly inside him. How amazing is that!!! I'm so glad Lindsay is doing so well. Soon she'll be home at this rate!

HOME... what sweet words to hear YOU say! With her feisty will to overcome and strong spirit, it won't be too long before she is making messes, playing outside, and wrestling with her brothers... AT HOME! What sweet pictures those will be :)

So glad to hear that she is still making great progess... we continue to pray for uneventful days and that her little body will continue to recover... perfectly!

Maybe by her actual birthday, she'll be well enough to taste a bit of frosting?!?!

Lots of love... Danielle

Yes!!!! It is so true! You have your ticket out of there, and before you know it you will onlly be going back ONCE a month!!

I feel so much joy for you guys- I can barely CONTAIN myself!!

The only thing I wish I would have done before we left the hospital is get contact info for all of our favorite nurses. They really were my frieds during those months and I miss them. I am sure I could track them down when we go to clinic, but it so chaotic and I haven't wanted to parade Mia until her tube is gone...that doesn't seem to be happening for us ;-)

Again, I am so so so happy!!

I gathered a bunch of advice from transplant mommies when we were on the floor- let me know if you want those emails. They were really helpful for me!

Just thinking of you guys getting to take her home gives me chill bumps!! I'm so happy for you. I hope that she continues to get stronger everyday so you can get out of there. We'll be home in August so hopefully she'll be home and we can come see her--through the window of course-- she'll probably still be on restriction.

Take care!
Love,
Amanda

This is what I prayed for! Leah called me on Thursday and told me that Lindsay was getting her heart...and now I find out that it was the "perfect heart" that I was praying for! Thank you Lord! This is the first time that I've been able to get online this week so I'm so excited to see Lidsay's wonderful progress and beautiful "Pink" pictures! It's debatable whether you could get her any cuter than the first photo shoot of her one year pictures, but she may be due for a re-shoot! :-) I'll be continuing to pray for your hearts that have been on this roller-coaster ride for so long! Many blessings to you. Isn't God Good!!!!

The day is coming closer when the Princess will be chasing her brothers and nothing will stop her now! Her brothers will teach her how to tackle (even though she is a princess!) and wrestle and do some crude things unfortunately - ha ha - it is just so cute to watch! It is amazing how dainty and 100% princess my little girl is but when she is with her three brothers -- LOOK OUT! Lindsay will soon be the same way! What a blessed day that will be! It is coming soon and I couldn't be happier for your family! What a strong princess! You are so blessed!
