Frustrated!

Well, PICC line did not go in last night. They just couldn't find an access point, but I do have a question about that and will address it soon. I'm thinking that since since was NPO since 10am yesterday morning and didn't get down to the cath lab until 8pm, she may have been a little dehydrated and they couldn't find a good, puffy vein. I don't know, but the theory sounds good to me and I will ask! We are home for a few hours to do lawn work and for me to do payroll. We will be back with the princess tonight. No fireworks for us, just going to see our little firecracker instead!
Love, Suzie

Your theory sounds like a good one to me :)

Enjoy your family time!

Dehydration plays a huge factor in locating veins for PICC's (from my own experience). Hopefully things go better today!! Have a nice holiday weekend with Princess!

Your theory sounds logical to me too!!! You're getting smarter than doctors now :)

Praying they are able to get a line in soon and that you guys have a great weekend with the pretty princess!!!!

I think if you all often and can't wait for you guys to be able to pack up and head home with Lindsay!!!! What a wonderful day that will be!

Don't you think they should give you an honorary medical degree after all you've been through? I do!

Gosh Suzie, I feel frustrated FOR you! We will be thinking of you and your family today and praying for better days to come... soon!

And there's always next year for fireworks... Lindsay will be old enough to enjoy them by then :)

GROWL... I hear your frustration. I'm with you on your theory. Why does she have to be NPO for a PICC line. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure Owen was just given a little versed in his room before his PICC. They even let me scrub up and help while they placed it.

Have a great 4th with your firecracker princess!

In my professional medical opinion,
;-) I think that sounds totally logical! It actually makes a lot of sense to me. Hopefully they're able to get her hooked up so you guys can move that much closer to home. Have a safe trip back to A2 and enjoy your weekend with your little firecracker!

I am sorry to hear that the punches just keep coming...but we all know the little firecracker will fight back. I am certain things will all work out soon and I know you all will enjoy your Fourth of July celebration...with your own little firecracker. We will light a few for you tonight and be thinking about you out here in Oregon. Miss all of you.

Suzie, you should have, at the very least, an honorary MD by now. Your theory is right...I learned the hard way, too (when they tried for over 4 hours to get a line in and finally one of the doctors said for them to stop and feed her, give her time to get hydrated again and then retry. Needless to say, they got the line in after she got fed). I think their tiny little veins just collapse after not having any food (especially since it's liquid).
Praying that your little firecracker gets lots of milk and her veins plump right up!

Happy 4th, sweet friend~ Rebecca

Sorry to hear the PICC didn't get in. If a person is dehydrated in can make a big difference with the veins.
